taking care of the skin like a boss

Taking Care Of The Skin Like a Boss

I remembered one stage of my life that I use to have a lot of pimples, I mean, a lot…

The type of skin that you feel embarrassed to go out and face the world. I had 16 years old, and I have to tell you, it’s not an easy stage concerning self-esteem.

It looked like at that time in life that, every time I was “out there” people were staring at me and saying… OMG, look… poor thing, so young, so lovely but with so many pimples, I’m not sure he’s going to fit in…

The Beginning Of Becoming An Expert

At that time, I didn’t have much money, but I was blessed to have a lot of love from my family. Support and structure to study.

I was born and raised with a lot of books to read and at an early age, I realized that we could know a lot of stuff and become knowledgeable in subjects that would be practical in life.

So I became a student of health and psychology.

Health, because I wanted to know about what goes inside of our body and what influence the food can make in our body and get rid of pimples.

Psychology, because I wanted to face the world naturally, as I couldn’t avoid the blisters from night to day, but I could control my temper, my reaction to friends bullying me because of my pimples.

What we put inside our body, reflects on the outside…

First I learned that we are a machine, the body has the skill to process everything that goes inside of it — a perfect synchronized system that needs balance to work correctly. We need to put the right fuel; then we can have more energy to go wherever we want to go.

So first I started to eat more fibers, such as oatmeals, wheat germ, fruits, orange, apples, greens.

The more I read about food, the more I was incorporating to my diet. And guess what? The healthier I was becoming. Naturally,

I had better skin. It was incredible, like magic. It didn’t happen in one, two days, but probably in two weeks, my skin was much better.

A Huge Discovery – Better Food, Better Skin, Better Health

I became addicted, and thank god into a vicious cycle that was impacted in all areas of my life. In high school, I was part of the swimming team, and my performance was starting to improve significantly.

My schedule was busy. I left home early in the morning and will be back home at the end of the day. I was studying and in the afternoon, swimming practice. My choices were always to the healthy stuff.

When you are a teenager, it’s not easy sometimes. Teenagers, usually love junk food. Pizza, burgers, sodas, chips. And what about when you want to hang out with your friends, what you do?

Well, even though I was considered a little nerdy because very feel teenagers were eating healthy at that time, and remember, I was trying to fit in not driving attention to my pimples. So I was eating here and there like “normal” teenagers.

And I was having fun as well. It’s not a bad thing. When you do everything in balance, and you feel happy, it’s the best feeling in the world, right?. The worse that we can do it’s to eat all that crap and feel guilty. Then it’s even more unhealthy.

Working on My Skin’s Microbiome Unconsciously

As said, the more I was reading and learning, more conscious I was. As I could visibly see results, I wanted more.

I read that we live peacefully with bacteria in our stomach and intestines. Called Gut Bacteria.

More than 400 hundred species live inside of our gut forming the microbiome pairing with other “creatures” fungi and viruses. And believe it or not, they make a massive impact on our well-being, metabolism, mood and immune system.

Of course, I didn’t know all of that at the age of 16, but it was more like a puzzle game.

I was collecting pieces of knowledge along the way, and with more recent studies I feel confident to apply more of this knowledge and still see results with 44 years old.

Healthy Skin’s Microbiome

As said previously, our body is an incredible system which can keep everything (all the systems – respiratory, blood circulation, hormones, and so on – in balance: more than that, the ability to heal itself.

Well if we take good care of the body, this is the essence of this miraculous system.

There’s a quote from Hippocrates the Father of Medicine – “Let thy food be the medicine and medicine be thy food”.

So take care of what you put inside the body, and the body will take care of yourself.

We deal with millions of bacterias every day, inside our house, in the streets, wherever you go we are in touch with them.

They live in our skin, and it’s part of it. Besides taking care of the body, the same applies to our largest organ, the skin.

There are billions of virus, bacterias sit on our skin, right now and the good bacteria take care of it if we take care of them! Amazing right! And more amazing is that it is super simple!

Basic things to keep the Skin’s Microbiome healthy

1) Eat healthy – no magic formulas – just keep in mind that eating a little bit of everything, remembering to eat greens, colorful plates with plenty of vegetables (half of the plate) – then the other quarter with protein and the last quarter with healthy carbohydrates, like potatoes, sweet potatoes, brown rice, quinoa and so on. Processed foods are not good for the skin. Fruits are fantastic sources of vitamins and antioxidants. Make sure to have plenty of it.

2) Exfoliate regularly – Once a week is good enough – If you over exfoliate your skin, you “kill” the good bacteria of the skin turning it vulnerable to changes in pH then oily or dry skin may happen.

3) Treat the skin with Cutting-Edge Actives and Natural Ingredients – Nourishing your skin with pure natural ingredients is like giving what the skin needs to promote skin cell turnover, stimulating the body to deliver the best skin cells. So you can glow with a radiant younger look!

4) Drink plenty of water to keep the skin plump – eight to twelve (8-12) glasses of water

5) Protect the skin against sunlight exposure with Sunscreen 30SPF

6) Remember to use the only skincare that makes uflawless!
