Exfoliating Scalp

Exfoliating The Scalp. Good Thing? Or Another Way For The Industry to Sell More?

We all know that exfoliation is an essential step in any skincare regimen, but how necessary is a scalp exfoliation. The truth of the matter is that it’s been trending since the beginning of 2018 and we are receiving more and more queries since then, so it’s time to talk about it. Scalp Exfoliation is the process of removing dead cells from the scalp, through either mechanical or chemical ingredients.

This is New To Me…Does The Scalp Exfoliate Naturally?

Yes, it will. Nature is perfect, and our body is no different, naturally can replace dead skin cells with brand new cells, which makes us look magnificent, radiant and younger. What a feeling right? For decades now, men and women are obsessed looking for the fountain of youth, no matter what.

It’s is scientifically proven that we can help our body to accelerate the process of skin cell turnover with some excellent skincare products, containing great varieties of ingredients and actives. And this acceleration process turned the skincare business into a billionaire market.

What are the benefits of Exfoliating the Scalp?

One of my friends and customer, Amanda says that she is exfoliating the scalp regularly, from the past six months.

And just now, her hair is starting to show the signs that are growing healthier than before and naturally lose, relaxed and she finally controlled dandruff in ways never experienced before.

Amanda, who is a successful attorney, said that from time to time, especially under stressful moments to attend deadlines and balance her busy life with family and friends, that he develops dandruff.

She completes that “there’s nothing else more embarrassing than dressing up properly and sooner or later you realize dandruff is there.”

She decided to follow instructions from her dermatologist, who suggested her to exfoliate the scalp regularly.

Amanda became a fan now, and she also says. “If we think about the scalp, it has always been there, it’s part of the skin anyways, the only difference is that is covered with hair (a lot of hair) and as we take care of the rest of the body, face, neck, forehead, chest, why not dedicate some time to the scalp?”

The science behind that is when massaging the scalp, besides helping the dead skin to get out of the way, the massage stimulates blood circulation and nutrients and oxygen, passes through the area, more often.

Then literally the hair grows from root to tips receiving the benefits of it. That’s why it is not an overnight process.

Best Ways for Scalp Exfoliation

It’s time to know that there are two ways to exfoliate the scalp. One is physical, which uses, little tiny grains, for example, that create friction to the scalp, promoting the removal of dead skin.

The other way is the chemical, which are specific ingredients or actives that promotes the undesired skin cell to be swapped away.

There are some specific products for scalp exfoliation, but maybe you want to try something else before spending more money and try this at home, which is very simple and easy to do.

Coconut Sugar or Brown Sugar with Oatmeal Scrub

Before getting into the shower, prepare:

2 Tablespoons of Coconut Sugar or Brown Sugar

2 Tablespoons of Oatmeal

When shampooing the hair, mix the sugar and oatmeal and put on scalp performing gentle movements to the scalp.

One significant thing is to use, lukewarm water as hot water with the scrub movement can cause sensibility to the scalp.

This could and either damage the skin or turning the scalp too dry, making the skin produce more oil, turning into a secondary issue. Excessive oily hair.

Use a lot of water to rinse all the shampoo and the physical particles of sugar and oatmeal. We don’t want any lost white oatmeal flake interfering in our beautiful look, right?!

Apply shampoo one more time, rinse and apply hair conditioning as usually.

What Else Should I Know about Exfoliating the Scalp?

That is no big deal, it is safe and straightforward to do it and as like the face skin, we shouldn’t do that more than a once a week.

There are chemical ingredients that we can use specifically as scalp exfoliants, but the most important thing is to keep the eyes very open on the actives and components used in the formulation. Chech what is the recommended time to sit on the scalp.

We should always consult a dermatologist to check the scalp conditions, especially when the plans are using chemical ingredients for exfoliating the scalp.

Any Side Effects for Exfoliate Scalp

There are no side effects if some care is taken like:

– paying attention to labels and instructions on chemical exfoliants for scalp

– Rinsing the hair and scalp properly, after exfoliating with lukewarm water

– Do not exfoliate scalp with any sore or open cut

– Not exfoliating the scalp more than once a week

– If any active infection, such as ringworm, you should not exfoliate the scalp

Important to mention that exfoliating the scalp is another TLC, for those who are looking for one more alternative to help skin rejuvenation promoting healthy and strong hair.

My friend Amanda became a huge fan, after seeing the benefits of bright hair and getting full control of dandruff.

Whether you believe or not that exfoliating the scalp can help you get stronger and glowing hair, it’s a reality.

When we keep focusing on things we want to improve, naturally looks like everything starts to lead into the direction we want.

Call it the law of attraction or merely a coincidence; the good thing is that it doesn’t hurt going for TLC anyways and if results are real, even better!

Last words guys, always remember to use sunscreen 30SPF at least and drink water – eight to twelve (8-12) glasses a day. It’s the way to be UFlawless from head to toe or from scalp to toe! :-)

See you soon!
