Why our skin loves antioxidants

Every time we take a minute to read about a skincare product, there’s one word that is always there. Antioxidants. There are many reasons why our skin loves Antioxidants.

And we are going to share everything you want to know about antioxidants.

Our skin is the largest organ in our bodies. And, as such, exposed to many environmental toxins.

Sun exposure and pollution are the top 2, followed by stress to cause premature aging on our skin.

They all increase free-radical damage to our skin. In numbers, sagging and age spots increase by 20% when exposed without any protection.

That means that every time we use antioxidants in our skin, we are limiting the production of free-radicals, reducing signs of aging, improving tightness, plumpness, and overall tone of the skin.

How Free-Radicals Damage The Skin

Literally, Free-Radicals destroy skin cells. They are electrically-charged molecules, which start off as ordinary carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen in our body.

When they are damaged by sun radiation or pollution, it reacts with the DNA of the cells, causing oxidative damage.

In other words, it’s like a cut apple, turning brown. That’s oxidation.

The same thing happens with collagen and elastin in the deep layers of the skin.

The results?

  • Sun Spots
  • Fine Lines & Wrinkles
  • Dull, grey skin tone
  • Loss of volume
  • Redness & Inflammation
  • Sagging, “sad” appearance
  • Uneven texture, rough skin

Here are the primary sources of Free-Radicals that damage the skin:

  • UV radiation
  • Carbon monoxide
  • Stress
  • Tobacco smoke
  • Smog
  • Heavy metals
  • Industrial solvents
  • Pesticides
  • Alcohol
  • Ozone
  • Types of Aerosols

Even though it’s almost impossible to avoid them 100%, functional, effective skincare products can minimize many of these issues.

How do Antioxidants help our skin to look youthful and healthy?

Antioxidants act as donators of electrons that neutralize the electrically-charged free-radical.

When stable, the molecules, in this case, the skin turns to its original state. Stable.

Our body is a perfect system that can produce its own antioxidants.

That’s why living a healthy life, eating healthy, moving the body frequently, and sleeping well enhances our chances of preventing the signs of aging.

When we use skincare products, loaded with antioxidants, we are giving our body everything it needs to thrive for perfect health. And that includes our skin!

3 Benefits of Antioxidants to the Skin.

  • Anti-Inflammatory Properties – Increase the skin’s circulation and cell metabolism. That can help acne to heal faster, evening skin tone, and also helping wrinkles & fine lines to fade.
  • Skin Tightening – Elasticity is always a huge factor when we age. In fact, we all lose 0,6% to 1% of elasticity per year if we don’t do anything to prevent and reverse this process.
  • Sun Protection – Antioxidants can hugely improve the protection against sun damage. That’s why the right way to tackle sun damage is through Sunscreen with antioxidants and broad-spectrum.

Sunlight damage affects us for sure, and it’s not only UVA & UVB rays but also HEV, which mostly come from computer screens, TVs, and cell phones.

When we take a closer look at the best antioxidants for the skin, Vitamin-C and Vitamin-A (Retinol) appear on top.

  • Vitamin-C – Not only the favorite amongst dermatologists but also loved by our skin. It’s by far the most studied antioxidant available. It’s an essential ingredient for protecting the skin against free-radical formation, lessening brown spots, and also supporting collagen synthesis.

The thing to be aware of is what kind of Vitamin-C is used and stored.

Vitamin-C loses its potency when exposed to air or light. For that reason, air-free pumps and complete light-free bottles are essential to keep them stable.

Besides all of that, there’s a form of Vitamin-C that stands out of the crowd. Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate. Much more stable, non-irritant, fast absorption.

You can find this active in our X3 Revitalizing Stem-Cells Serum with all the props and also a miracle maker!

  • Retinol – Aka Vitamin-A – It gained popularity through time as it proved to literally reduce the speed of time! As it also stimulates collagen production, boosting skin cell turnover, making it the go-to for improving skin tone and smoothing wrinkles and fine lines. Vitamin-A proved in labs and in “real life” that is a powerful antioxidant when fighting pollution and sunlight damage.

For that reason we came with the suggestion of mixing 2 of our top selling serums:

  • X3 Revitalizing Stem Cells Serum – The Medical-Grade Vitamin-C in the medical-grade formula is 10 x stronger than OTC products, boosting collagen production like no other. Together with Lilac Stem-Cells and Marine Extracts, this Serum addresses deeper lines in the Triangle of Beauty (Nasolabial folds, Lip lines, and Marionette lines). It also improves pore appearance and supports brightening the skin even in those with very sensitive skin.
  • X3 Age-Defy Retinol PM Serum – Formulated with 0,5% of pure Medical-Grade Retinol. Purity to its best, combined with other magic botanical extracts, phospholipids, and glycolipids promoting a unique combination of cutting-edge actives and natural ingredients, supporting the complete renewal of skin, from the deepest layers to the surface in perfect harmony, which means no damage, no flaking.

Here’s where images speak more than words.

Dark spots are less visible and wrinkles are visibly smaller
Brighter skin, fine lines & wrinkles starting to fade and firmer skin

The way to use it is effortless.

After cleansing and drying skin (once Retinol doesn’t match with water), apply one pump of the X3 Face Volumizer and another pump of the X3 Revitalizing Stem-Cells Serum on hand, stir/mix well both of the Serum to a complete creamy uniform blend.

Then with the tip of one of your fingers, get the mix and put of specific spots on your face. T-Zone, close to the eye contour, forehead, cheeks, chin, and neck.

The best time to do that is at nighttime once you don’t need to worry about sunlight.

It’s crucial as Retinol and Vitamin-C layer down the skin, and in many people, it can turn very sensitive.

Nothing that a good sunscreen can help, if you’re using it during the day.

Next day in the morning, if you used them at night, cleanse to remove leftover.

Another great Pro-Tip we suggest when using our Retinol is to use the leftover, after using on the face, to apply on hair.

Our hair loves our Retinol. Once the natural form of glycolipids helps the skin and also to smooth the hair delivering an awesome glow!

Looking forward to seeing UFlawless soon! ☺️
